Digital Voter ID Card is an e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card). e-EPIC is a non-editable Secure Portable Document Format (PDF) version of EPIC (approximately 250 KB) that can be downloaded on mobile or in self-printable form on computer.
Thus a voter can store the card in his mobile, upload it on Digi Locker or print it and self-laminate it. This is in addition to the physical ID known as PVC EPIC being issued for new registration.
The e-EPIC will also have a secure QR code along with the voter’s image for identification along with serial number, part number, date of polling etc.
This will be the first time that the government will issue voter ID cards in digital format. Other identity proofs like Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving license are already available in digital format.
What is e-PIC initiative?
The Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card (ePIC) program was officially launched on January 25 and allows voters to download a soft copy of their voter card from the website of the Election Commission.
How to Download Voter ID Card
As many people would know that the process of downloading voter id card with photo was not there earlier. Therefore, the Election Commission on National Voters’ Day (25 January) provided the facility to download Electronic Electrical Photo ID Card online. That is, now the citizens of each state will be able to download their colored voter ID like Aadhar card.
- Firstly, NVSP “National Voters Service Portal” has to open your browser, the official portal released by the Election Commission.
- Then you will see the login/register option at the bottom of the home page. Since this option is recently added on this portal, so first of all, you need to create your own account. Hence, you have to click on the option of Login / Register.
How To Generate Your User ID and Password.
- Now you will see an option written below that do not have account click on register as a new user. For this you can take the help of the picture given below.
- Now the register page will open in front of you, in which you will have to fill your mobile number and generate captcha and OTP.
- After generating the OTP, submit it on this page, after which you will get two options. 1. I have EPIC number. I have EPIC number.
- If you have an epic number of old Voter ID card, then select the first option. If you do not have an Epic number, choose another option and create your User ID and Password.
- Now you have to login by entering your User ID and Password by going to the home page.
- Now after logging into the dashboard of NVSP, you need to click on the option of e-EPIC written below on the home page.
- After clicking Download electronic copy of EPIC card page will open. Now you will get EPIC no. or reference no. And you have to choose your state.
- As soon as you fill your details (EPIC no), you need to verify the OTP by clicking on Send OTP given below.
- Now you have to fill a captcha and click on e-EPIC given below and download voter card
In this way, every citizen can download his/her own Voter ID card from any state.
1. First Setup – You have to create your account by visiting the Voter Portal: http://voterportal.eci.gov.in/.
Then after coming to the home page, you have to login. After that, a new page will open in front of you, in which you have to click on Download e-EPIC.
After clicking on Download e-EPIC, a new page will open, which will redirect you to the official website of nbsp. is in.
Note: If you apply by visiting voterportal.eci.gov.in, it will again redirect you to the official portal NVSP page. It is better that you download the voter card directly on this website (www.nbsp.in).
2. Second Setup – The second method is that if you do not have a computer, then you can download the Voter Helpline mobile app from your mobile and download the voter ID card.
